Repo

My review of Repo, the new album from noise-rock trio Black Dice, ran today in the Boston Phoenix.

I’m a fan of noisy stuff, and of Black Dice in particular, but something about Repo seemed tossed off. A couple of the tracks were simply terrible, particularly the unfortunate acoustic guitar loop of “Vegetable,” which sounds like a shard salvaged from the garbage of an Animal Collective session. Black Dice should stick to electronic, industrial-influenced noise and leave the breakbeats and loopy acoustics to others.

“He believes that fairness is defined by market outcomes. To the extent that unfairness exists, it is solely the doing of government: clean energy, laws permitting union dues, overpaid government employees, and so on.” Romney’s perverse ‘fairness.’
