In The Mail Today – David McCullough’s 1776: The Illustrated Edition (Simon and Schuster), a lovely coffee-table friendly rendering of his look into the first year of the revolution. It’s full of primary source replicas and wonderful maps that appeal directly to people like me who harbor a strange fascination with old documents and historical cartography. I enjoyed the book the first time around, and I’m ready to get lost in this massive remix. I’ll be reviewing it for PopMatters.
