Gutter Tactics | Dälek

dalek

My review of Dälek’s Gutter Tactics ran this week in the Boston Phoenix. [It's also been picked up in the East Bay Express]. The sound of this record is simply exquisite. Producer Oktopus has created a truly beautiful mess of sound that overwhelms the rapping on the record. Only the sample of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s fiery sermon explodes from out of the din. MC Dälek blends, and I don’t mean this negatively. His voice, lyrics, and flow are a part of the music, and while he may not be easy to discern as an individual component, his contributions to the whole are crucial.
